'It's one of those things that can only be planned...'
From a young age, Greymarch has known the twisting and binding of his own fate, shedding the wondering that most equines feel, knowing nothing yet everything of uncertainty, the knowing like an open book placed before him to read. The writing is invisible to all others, yet to him it bears all worth telling, the tales of old mixed with things that seem incorrect, the things that shall be, once were, and now are. Ticking away though he cannot measure the time himself, though his kin may do so as they wish. With a blind eye he can foretell his own future, what he must do. With this he had used it as an instrument of great power.
The first calling of the Elemental war dawned in fire, as it has a habit of doing. The Zuden rose, that he could see for himself, and he joined forces with another, different herd from his own. The Konjou breed from the land of Animus Elegancia. The spirit herd and the wisdom herd, yet there was something amiss in the ranks. When the pressure was on for an early victory, Greymarch could see the way to win. Moving forward, though almost the entirety of the force had been slain. Shall he continue, it would mean winning the war, but also loosing the remainder of his breed, and the other. He made his chose, but another saw the faults. Saw the betrayal of the races. The stallion named Vaiveahtoish, the fateful son of the leader of the Konjous, a great warrior with a true heart, blinded by the need for his people. They confronted each other, each with their own ideals. The Konjou wished to pull back, save the remainder of the ranks, keep themselves from a demise that could be prevented, though that would mean having to fight once more one day. Greymarch refused, and presisted. It was this that led not only to the loss of the Chikoa breeding, but also the great lose of the Spirit horses as well. In this great battle, the lead of the Konjou horses perished, leaving the stallion Vaiveah to lead the herd. Greymarch had indeed won a battle, but had also made an enemy in the end.
In a time after this occurrence, Greymarch did a thing of taboo among his kind, something unheard of and uncommon. He took his mate an equine of normal breeding, a Fresian mare named Rayvn. She became the Lady of Piazza Di Saggezza, though she had not an ounce of Elemental blood to her name. She soon became heavy with foal, a halfling mix stirring within her. However, she was too weak to house such a child, the Chikao blood something too strong for her to imagine. When she gave birth to the foal, she died in the labor, passing from the world without ever laying eyes on her own child. The colt was something of disgust to the stallion, for it had killed his mate, the mare he loved so dearly. He refused to accept such a child, casting it from his lands even though it was too weak to survive. He knew it would, for he had seen it himself. The stallion took the name The Stranger of Our Holocaust, for he was but a Stranger, a blemish, cast to wander the lands with the curse of his breeding. Unknowing of his Elemental self, thinking the visions of the past, tortured ways and bloodshed, a curse on himself. He had to be to blame. Greymarch looked on at his son at a distance, never meeting, never telling, even when the stallion met his demise. Even then after when he returned as a dreadsteed. Not one word was spoken.
Three years after the birthing of his last child, Greymarch took another mate, a mare of Veggentti blood, an powerful Elemental mare of the sister herd of the Chikao. The union was to farther bound the blood between the two herds, so alike yet divided as they stood. The mare's name was Semira, and a foal grew within her that she hated with all her being, for she was not in love with the stallion Greymarch, the union not by her own choosing. She became ill with her hate, thin with her refusal to feed the parasite with her, weak in body without substance. When the foal was born, she also perished, drowning in the release of her from the cage of her master, who watched it all with an expressionless gesture. The foal was a mudblood, left to the earth like his brother, without a mother. This one the stallion Greymarch decided to rear, without affection, teaching it knowledge but never giving it a name. The foal always insisted 'Call me Jack.' And so became his name. He had power, and Greymarch knew he would grow into his powers. He would be useful. So the gears had been set into motion.
Dawning on the day, the stallion sought a mare of normal blood but exceptional breeding, the daughter of the mighty Lassan, god and keeper of the herd Terra Della Liberta. This herd was the largest on the isles, a force to be reckoned with in time of crisis. He soon was to seek the union of himself with the mare of Cosette, for he saw something on the edge of the horizon, something looming, a fate that could not be changed. If he would win the affections of the mare, it would win the side of Liberta in the war to come. He knew, she did not. He would seek the aid of Lassan in...what, exactly? To destroy the lead of Animus Elegancia, to secure the future for himself, to 'steal the baby from the cradle' if you will.
Vaiveah had befriended the stallion Stranger, the walking figure of desolation and lonliness, the embodiment of pain and guilt. He had sheltered him in Animus, gave him a purpose, sought to allow him to live. Then, when Stranger was killed by the stallion Spyder out of mere circumstance, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Vaiveah was inconsolable. A huge hole had been blown into his world, the void that had been filled with friendship now sick with lonliness. He found out, by the stallion Call Me Jack, who dared to insult him with the trespass of his lands, the smell of Greymarch on his coat, he knew. Greymarch was Stranger's sire, though he had never known. Therefore, by dismissing his son into the pains and ruins of the world, the blame of his death fell on Greymarch himself. Vaiveah was more than angry. All of this could have been prevented with a few words.
To add it to the wonder, Stranger was now a hellion.
Vaiveah had already been on bad grounds with his father, as well as his half-brother.
Spyder had been added to the mix, and Vaiveah wanted revenge on him as well.
Call Me Jack had no knowledge of his half-brother.
And Animus was an ally of Liberta and Lassan.
And there was still another lost son.

But Greymarch has a plan...
